Georgia Tech Vs. Virginia Tech Final Score: Paul Hewitt Ejected, Jackets Lose Anyway

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets trailed by 21 when coach Paul Hewitt was kicked out after receiving back-to-back technical fouls, then cut the lead to as few as 13 within the next eight minutes. But Blacksburg treated the Gold and White no more kindly than it did during football season, sending the Jackets home 102-77 losers.

Iman Shumpert and Malcolm Delaney made a duel of it, scoring 27 and 33 respectively. The difference — well, one difference at least — was Delaney getting 25 from Jeff Allen. Tech’s second-leading scorer was Mfon Udofia with 13. Five Hokies hit double figures; only two Jackets did so.

On the bright side, Georgia Tech split the 2011 Techie Convention: Hoops Edition with the Hokies, having beaten them in Atlanta earlier this season. Back when the Jackets were puzzlingly good at home.

Tech gets Chattanooga next, and can assume absolutely nothing about the outcome. It’s definitely time to see what happens if Hewitt gets himself ejected within the first minute of the game. Wouldn’t this resolve every Tech hoops fan’s major complaint about this team in the most financially feasible way?
