NCAA Tournament 2011 Predictions: Duke, North Carolina Unlikely To Meet In Final Four

The Duke Blue Devils and North Carolina Tar Heels are on the same side of the 2011 NCAA Tournament bracket, but few are predicting a fourth meeting between the two this season. While Duke is largely expected by experts and computers alike to reach the Final Four, UNC isn’t expected to get past No. 1 Ohio State in the East region.

And while the humans have no idea what to make of No. 3 Syracuse, the computers love them. An upset at the hands of the Orange — or even No. 7 Washington, a team poised for a UConn-esque oh-now-they’re-not-underachieving-any-more thing — wouldn’t be a shocker either.

Duke’s road features a tough Texas team, an overlooked Arizona squad, and the feel-good hit of the spring, San Diego State. Kenneth Massey’s system gives Duke the toughest road to the Final Four, while Joel Sokol’s thinks San Diego State is significantly better than No. 1 seed Pitt.
