Brian Gregory Denies Georgia Tech Basketball Coaching Contract Offer, But Reports Persist

Brian Gregory, who's been rumored to be a part of the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets basketball coaching search for several days now, says he has "had conversations" with various schools about their open positions, but that he has not been offered yet.

Fox Sports' Jeff Goodman, however, is sticking with his earlier report that Gregory will take the Jackets job, though Goodman has adjusted his timeline. According to his latest, Gregory is expected to replace Paul Hewitt "within 48 hours." Goodman has hit one report and appears to have missed another so far in this story, so approach appropriately.

Of course, both Gregory and Goodman could be accurate here. There might not be an offer on the table, but one could be coming very soon. Or they could both be wrong! ORRRRR maybe Gregory has accepted an offer that has not yet been presented. Open your mind, man.

Unless Tech is holding out for Shaka Smart or Brad Stevens (the old "loser gets to coach the Yellow Jackets" match!), expect a hiring within the next five days. The program's self-imposed deadline was for a new coach to be named before the Final Four.
