Chris Bolden Commits To Georgia Tech Basketball Over USC, Viginia Tech,Others

Georgia Tech Basketball coach Brian Gregory picked up a much needed commitment from one of the state's top players in guard Chris Bolden.

Brian Gregory picked up a much needed commitment from one of the state's top players as former Norcross High guard Chris Bolden pledged to join the Yellow Jackets next season. Bolden is a 6-foot-3 guard that helped lead Norcross to upset victory over Milton in last season's Class AAAAA State Championship game.

Bolden visited Tech on Saturday and picked up an offer from Gregory in person and committed on the same day. Tech was recruiting him as a combo guard that can play either guard spot in the backcourt. Bolden averaged 15 points per game as a junior. On his decision, Bolden had this to say.

"It doesn't get any better than Georgia Tech," Bolden told the AJC. "It's a great college, it's close to home so my friends and family can see me play, and they play in the best conference in college basketball [the ACC] ... It had everything I was looking for."

Bolden originally committed to Miami during his junior season but reopened his recruiting when Frank Haith left to take the Missouri job. He held offers from as many as 20 schools including Virginia Tech, Boston College, and USC.

Bolden will play his senior season at North Gwinnett High School.
