There's no question that Georgia Tech outside linebacker Jeremiah Attaochu is supposed to be one of the team's most prolific playmakers on defense. But Attaochu hasn't quite lived up to the high expectations set for him following his first season as a starter in 2011.
Since leading the Yellow Jackets with six sacks and 11.5 tackles for loss in 11 games in 2011, Attaochu has just two sacks, which account for all of his tackles for loss, at the halfway point for Tech.
A couple of Saturdays ago, Attaochu had what appeared to be one of his best games of the season, but Tech head coach Paul Johnson noted that the linebacker made his share of mistakes.
For the good plays Attaochu has made this season, like the 1.5 sacks and 13 tackles against Clemson, there's also been missed tackles and other opportunities to make plays.
"It's been nothing I can put my finger on," Johnson told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Tech faces a struggling Boston College on Saturday, which should give Attaochu a chance to have a big game.
