2012 ACC Basketball: Yellow Jackets picked to finish 9th by coaches

Georgia Tech is slated to finish ninth in the ACC this season according to conference coaches.

Georgia Tech is hoping to improve after a disappointing season last year, but conference coaches have them ranked ninth in the in the pre-season poll.

The Yellow Jackets are predicted to finish ahead of Virginia Tech, Wake Forest and Boston College, but well behind predicted conference champion NC State who received eight first place votes. Duke (3) and North Carolina (1) were the only other teams to receive first place votes in the poll.

Georgia Tech finished 11-20 last year and 4-12 in the ACC, which tied them for last place alongside Virginia Tech, Wake Forest and Boston College – 10 games behind conference champion North Carolina.

Mfon Udofia and Pierre Jordan are the only seniors on Georgia Tech's squad this season as the team has five freshmen, two sophomores and four juniors. Udofia averaged 9.9 points a game last season, which ranked second on the team.

Georgia Tech opens the season against Tulane on Nov. 9.
