Georgia Tech defeated Boston College, 37-17, on Saturday to end a three-game losing streak. They did so in part due to the play of backup quarterback Vad Lee.
Lee completed 2-of-6 passes for 89 yards and a touchdown, while also rushing 11 times for 62 yards and a score on the ground for the Yellow Jackets.
Georgia Tech head coach Paul Johnson says that the amount of playing time that Lee receives will depend on his performance in practice, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. His play in practice was impressive in the week leading up to the Boston College game, but has been poor at other times.
Lee was the AP North Carolina Player of the Year in 2010 and sat out 2011 as a redshirt. He made his season debut this season against Presbyterian, recording 82 yards passing and 101 yards rushing.
In five games this year, Lee has completed 8-of-15 passes for 220 yards and a two touchdowns while rushing 30 times for 248 yards and four touchdowns.
