Georgia Tech vs. Clemson: Yellow Jackets addressing tackling woes

Set to face a high-powered Clemson offense, Georgia Tech has made open field tackling a major focus this week in practice.

After giving up 510 yards of offense and 49 points to Middle Tennessee State last week, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets have been addressing poor tackling in practice leading up to their matchup with the No. 15 Clemson Tigers on Saturday, according to a report in the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

Georgia Tech coach Paul Johnson believes poor tackling not only led to his team's embarrassing, 49-28 loss to Middle Tennessee State, but it also played a crucial part in losses to Virginia Tech and Miami.

"If we play like we did Saturday [against Middle Tennessee State], they may not have enough lights on the scoreboard for Clemson," Johnson told the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

Clemson's dynamic and high-powered offense, which is led by quarterback Tajh Boyd, running back Andre Ellington and wide receiver Sammy Watkins, is known for making defenders miss tackles in the open field. Johnson has emphasized the need for proper technique and form this week with that in mind.
