Georgia mounted a furious comeback in the second half but couldn't overcome a sluggish first-half falling to the Auburn Tigers 59-51. The Bulldogs could only muster 15 first-half points against the Tigers who built a 26-15 halftime lead. Georgia outscored Auburn 36-33 in the second half and cut the lead to two late before Auburn finished things off from the free throw line.
It was an extremely tough night for the Bulldogs offensively as they only hit 25 percent of their field goal attempts. Gerald Robinson led Georgia with 16 points and Dustin Ware added 10 but was just 2-12 from the field in the game. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope struggled throughout scoring six points while going 1-8 from the field.
Varez Ward led Auburn with 17 points going 12-12 from the free throw line. Kenny Gabriel added 16 points and eight boards for the Tigers. Auburn hit just 33 percent of its field goal attempts but were 25-31 from the free throw line.
With the loss, Georgia falls to 10-11 on the season and 1-6 in SEC play. Auburn improves to 13-9 overall and 3-5 inside the conference.
