The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets opened spring practice on Monday and already may have lost one of their key defensive players for the upcoming season. WSB's Zach Klein reports that Yellow Jackets head coach Paul Johnson said after the first practice that linebacker Julian Burnett would probably miss the entire upcoming season due to an undisclosed injury.

As a junior, Burnett had 120 total tackles while playing in all 13 games for Georgia Tech. He is expected to be one of the leaders of the defense as a senior in 2012. Burnett had 10 total tackles in Tech's loss to Georgia and had seven more in the Sun Bowl against Utah.
