The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are going to have spring football without their best running back Orwin Smith, due to toe surgery, according to Kelly Quinlan of Rivals.com.
The Yellow Jackets begin spring football on March 26 and play their spring game on April 20 at Bobby Dodd Stadium.
Smith is one of the Yellow Jackets' best big-play threats, coming off a 2011 season where he rushed for 615 yards on 61 attempts and scored 11 touchdowns. Smith also recorded 306 receiving yards on 13 catches.
As SB Nation's Jason Kirk points out, with Roddy Jones and Embry Peeples moving on, the Jackets' speed back depth chart does not have much experience right now.
