Georgia Tech Basketball Recruiting: Corey Heyward Completes 2012 Class

The son of Falcons great Craig Heyward will join an incoming Yellow Jackets class charged with rebuilding the program

Presswire

The son of an Atlanta Falcons legend will stay in the city to play his college basketball. Corey Heyward, the son of former Falcons fullback Craig "Ironhead" Heyward, signed to play for Georgia Tech's basketball team Wednesday. Heyward spent one year at Hargrave Military Academy in Virginia after a notable prep career at Atlanta's Peachtree Ridge High School.

Tech is coming off of one of its worst seasons in school history, and head coach Brian Gregory told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution Heyward, a 6-foot, 205 lb. point guard is invested in rebuilding the program:

Corey does the things that help teams win. That was really important. Then, the second thing, he brings the explosiveness, competiveness and toughness that we need in our program. When you look at the other kids that we signed early, that’s an exciting group … not just because of the things they accomplished but they bring character and toughness. They’re excited about bringing Georgia Tech back.
