Shamire Devine Commits To Georgia Tech Over Florida State

Things could be picking up for the Yellow Jackets on the recruiting front after they landed a commitment on Wednesday from Tri-Cities High School product Shamire Devine who is regarded by many as the State's No. 1 prospect at offensive line. Devine is a 4-star recruit and is ranked as the No. 19 offensive line prospect in the country.

Devine cited academic opportunities as Tech as the deciding factor in his decision. He wants to pursue a degree in Computer Engineering and Programming.

"Florida State was ranked in the top 10 in computers, while Georgia Tech was in the top three. So I chose the school with the best academics. I don't really care about the football part. I just want the best degree I can get, as far as the field I want to study. That's Georgia Tech."

Devine will reportedly still take two more official visits to other schools which could make Yellow Jackets head coach Paul Johnson cringe. He plans to visit Kentucky and Florida State but says he is 100 percent committed to the Yellow Jackets. Johnson in the past has frowned on committed prospects continuing to visit other schools so stay tuned on that front.
