Nigel Bowden Commits To Georgia Tech Football

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets picked up commitment No. 6 from Central Macon High linebacker Nigel Bowden who had been previously committed to Vanderbilt.

"Coach Johnson said ‘If you want to do this [commit to Georgia Tech], we can go ahead and do it. You've got your offer.' I said I wanted to do it. We shook hands, and we made it final."

Bowden is rated as a 4-star linebacker and made the switch after a face-to-face meeting with head coach Paul Johnson during a visit to the Tech campus. Bowden cited a desire to play closer to home for his change of heart. Apparently Georgia Tech never gave Bowden an offer until Johnson had the opportunity to meet with him in person.

Bowden is Tech's sixth commitment for its' 2013 class.
