2013 Georgia Tech Football Recruiting: Yellow Jackets Land 3-Star DE Justin Akins

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets landed their 10th verbal commit for their 2013 class when they landed 6-foot-4, 245-pound defensive end Justin Akins out of Jackson, Ga. Akins had 20 offers and his number two school was Clemson but after he finally took a trip to the school he came away with the decision to commit to Georgia Tech.

Akins said that the coaches at Clemson were noncommittal about his recruitment, and he thought it had to do with them landing Robert Nkemdiche who was Clemson's top guy. After that visit he decided Georgia Tech was for him:

Why Georgia Tech? "The education, it's in my home state, the football tradition there, and I want to represent Georgia Tech in a positive way."
