Miami Vs. Georgia Tech: Denzel Perryman Reportedly Out Against Yellow Jackets

The Miami Herald is reporting that Miami Hurricanes starting middle linebacker Denzel Perryman will miss this Saturday's game against Georgia Tech. The university hasn't made any official comment other than a mention from head coach Al Golden that Perryman didn't practice on Monday, but the Herald's sources are indicating it's an ankle injury:

Perryman has a deeply bruised high ankle sprain -- according to someone close to him -- that will keep him out at least a week if not longer. He has a protective boot on his ankle and will be reevaluated later this week when the swelling goes down.

Perryman's injury would be a huge blow to a UM defense that's struggled to contain Tech's triple option offense. Over the last two meetings, the Yellow Jackets have scored over 50 points against Miami. SB Nation Miami blog The Seventh Floor has more on the Perryman injury and the potential impact:

The loss of Perryman, as we discussed yesterday, could be crippling. Jimmy Gaines will likely start at middle linebacker next week, according to Navarro. To his left will be Eddie Johnson. The other starting linebacker will be Gionni Paul, Thurston Ambrister or Tyrone Cornelius, though all three will play either way. My guess on the starter would be Ambrister, for whatever that's worth.
