Masters Leaderboard: Fred Couples, Geoff Ogilvy Gaining As Rory McIlroy Retakes Lead

Y.E. Yang's (5-under) early Thursday hot streak has cooled, while Alvaro Quiros (5-under) has fallen all the way to a fourth-place tie after opening the second round of the 2011 Masters Tournament atop the leaderboard. Rory McIlroy (9-under), after briefly giving the lead up to Yang and K.J. Choi, has shot 2-under today to reclaim sole possession of the top spot. Through seven holes in round two, McIlroy still has yet to score over par on any hole in the tourney.

A handful of players on the rise today, having shot 4-under so far this round: Fred Couples (5-under), plus Luke Donald and Jim Furyk (4-under each). Geoff Ogilvy (6-under) has gone 3-under this round, good for third place.

Tiger Woods might be undergoing a mini-collapse, having bogeyed two of his first three holes to wind up 1-over for the tourney. Phil Mickelson (2-under) is even through 15 holes.

Matt Kuchar (4-under) is also even, hanging on to a ninth-place tie. Bubba Watson has shot 1-under with one hole left, fighting his way back to even par, while Stewart Cink (3-over) may have stopped the bleeding with three birdies in his last four holes. Larry Mize (3-over), who constructed yesterday's finest scorecard with four-hole streaks each of under- and over-par performances, is 2-over on the day.
