Augusta State jumped out to a strong early lead against the Georgia Bulldogs in the all-Georgia 2011 NCAA golf championship, with Carter Newman and Mitchell Krywulycz going up by four holes apiece on T.J. Mitchell and Hudson Swafford. The first pairing to hit the Karsten Creek course, UGA's Bryden MacPherson and ASU's Olle Bengtsson, has just completed its front nine, with MacPherson taking three straight holes to lead the pairing after trailing by one early on.
Georgia's Russell Henley is the other leading Dawg, up by two after six holes on Henrik Norlander after shooting all-square through the first four.
In the marquee pairing, Augusta State's Patrick Reed is up by one on Harris English through five holes.
