Phil Mickelson is at even par through nine holes and is tied for 38th overall at 2-under, and Tiger Woods is at two-over through ten and is tied for 52nd overall at even-par. Both players face an uphill climb to stay in contention for the 2012 Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass in Florida.
Players that are moving into championship contention include:
- Rickie Fowler - A hot start from Fowler has him at 3-under for the round and 6-under for the tournament.
- Sergio Garcia - Coming off of a quote saying he might not be "good enough," Garcia finished up his day with a 4-under round and is 4-under for the tournament.
- Jhonattan Vegas - Vegas is tied for 11th overall as he is 3-under thus far in the third round and 5-under for the tournament.
The trio of Matt Kuchar, Kevin Na and Zach Johnson sit at 8-under for The Players Championship and look to tee off in less than an hour from now. Kuchar and Harris English, in fourth place at 7-under, will tee off at 2:24pm Eastern. Na and Johnson will tee off at 2:35pm Eastern.
