The Open Championship 2012 is the third major of the PGA season and will be held this year at The Royal Lytham & St. Annes Golf Club in Lancashire, England. The Open is often referred to as the British Open and is the only major played outside of the U.S.

Practice rounds are currently taking place with the tournament scheduled to begin on Thursday. Bubba Watson, Matt Kuchar and David Duval are among those in the field. It will be a homecoming of sort for Duval who was the winner in 2001 which was the last time The Open Championship was played at The Royal Lytham & St. Annes.

Darren Clarke is the defending champion after he held off Phil Mickelson and Dustin Johnson to win at Royal St. George's Golf Club in 2011.

ESPN will carry the event live with coverage beginning at 5 a.m. ET on Thursday and Friday. Coverage begins at 7 a.m. on Saturday and at 8 a.m. on Sunday.
