2012 PGA Championship: South Carolina Coast To Host First Major

The Ocean Club at Kiawah Island in South Carolina will be the host for the 94th PGA Championship

The 2012 PGA Championship gets underway later this week at Kiawah Island in South Carolina. The tournament will be the first of Golf's four majors to ever be held in the Palmetto State with 156 players set to participate.

Golf has strong ties to South Carolina's east coast but most notably in Hilton Head where Harbor Town Golf Links is a regular stop on the PGA tour. The Ocean Course at Kiawah Island previously hosted the 91 Ryder Cup and the PGA Senior Championship in 2007.

Of the 156 players the field will include the top 108 golfers in the Official World Golf Rankings. Defending champ Keegan Bradley is one of 13 past champions in the field along with former major winners like Tiger Woods and

The tournament will be broadcast live on TNT and CBS beginning on Thursday and lasting through Sunday's final round.
