Needing both a weekend comeback and to hold off Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy to capture the FedEx Cup, Brandt Snedeker was able to complete the feat — capturing the Tour Championship and golf's playoff title in thrilling fashion.
Snedeker, who was in fifth in the FedEx standings coming into the Tour Championship, was also just 2-under through the first two rounds of the final event of the PGA Tour season, but hard charged over the weekend to finish at a 10-under 270 for the tournament. Snedeker finished three strokes ahead of Justin Rose, who finished alone in second place.
Snedeker ends up capturing the FedEx Cup by a comfortable 1,273 points over Rory McIlroy, who finished second. Tiger Woods finished 1,437 behind Snedeker to capture third place. But only Snedeker walks away with the Cup and the $10-million check as the FedEx Cup champion.
