The Atlanta Hawks lost to the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday night, 101-99, dropping the exhibition contest. San Antonio led for much of the game, but Atlanta was able to battle back and take the lead at the end of the third quarter.

The Spurs pulled ahead in the fourth but never led by more than six points, and Atlanta pulled even with four seconds left in the game when Mike Scott nailed a three-pointer with an assist from Damion James. That gave the Spurs the final possession, and they made good on it with a jumper by Nando de Colo to win the game.

Forwards Scott and James were tied as leading scorers on the Hawks, both with 11 points. James was a first-round pick in 2010, drafted 24th overall by the Hawks, but he was dealt to the Nets and spent the following years bouncing around the league. He signed a one-year deal with Atlanta in September. Scott is a second-round pick from the 2012 draft.

Combined, the team shot 38.3 percent on field goals, 8-for-18 on three pointers, and made 19 of 23 freethrow attempts.
