The latest SB Nation NBA Power Rankings have been released, compiled by Seth Rosenthal. As of this week, the Atlanta Hawks are ranked at No. 8, unchanged from last week after splitting games between the Charlotte Bobcats and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Rosenthal talks about how many rebounds the Hawks seem to give up:
The Hawks had been humoring bad teams a bit too much during that win streak, and they finally paid for that tendency in a collapse against the Cavs, easily the worst performance of the year by a defense that's been terrific so far. Atlanta's one of several top defensive teams that gives away a lot of rebounds (perhaps because they defend so well), and that bit 'em against Cleveland.
The Hawks have games this week against the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday with tip off scheduled for 8 p.m. at Philips Arena, the Washington Wizards on Friday with tip off at 7:30 p.m. also at Philips Arena and the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday with tip off at 8 p.m. at FedEx Forum, all time Eastern.
As for the rest of the Southeast Division, the Miami Heat are ranked the highest at No. 4, unchanged from last week. The Bobcats are ranked at No. 21 also unchanged, while the Orlando Magic rose one spot to No. 23. The Washington Wizards are ranked last at No. 30.
