Atlanta Hawks forward Josh Smith achieved a career milestone on Tuesday night when he hauled down rebound No. 12 on the night to reach 5,000 career rebounds in his career.
He becomes player No. 238 in NBA history to reach that mark and the eighth player to pull down more than 5,000 rebounds with the Hawks. The milestone rebound was part of an impressive night from Smith, who finished with 23 points, 13 rebounds, seven assists, four blocks and three steals to lead the Hawks to a 95-86 victory against the New Orleans Hornets.
Smith, 27, was a first-round pick of the Hawks in the 2004 NBA Draft and has played his entire nine-year career with the team. In 2012, he has averaged 16.9 points, 8.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists as the Hawks have earned a 20-10 record to begin the year.
The Hawks are next traveling to play the Detroit Pistons on Friday night.
