Hawks banged up as they head to Detroit

Atlanta's practice was thin because of injuries Thursday.

USA TODAY Sports

With a trip to Detroit on the docket Friday night, the Atlanta Hawks are hurting.

The Hawks were without Al Horford, Devin Harris, Anthony Morrow and Johan Petro at practice Thursday, according to Robby Kalland of SB Nation's PeachTree Hoops.

Horford has a hip injury, while Harris continues to sit out with an ankle injury. Horford is expected to play, while it's unlikely that Harris sees any action.

Atlanta would like Horford in the lineup as he is the team's second-leading scorer behind Josh Smith. Horford is averaging 16 points and 9.6 rebounds per game.

Morrow and Petro will not travel with the team to Detroit either, according to Kalland.

The Hawks head into Friday night's game with a 20-10 record and in second place in the Southeast. The Pistons, meanwhile, have won three in a row but are just 12-22 this season.

Detroit's leading scorer this season is Greg Monroe. The center is averaging 15 points and 8.9 rebounds per game.
