New Kennesaw State Owls athletic director Vaughn Williams’ most important upcoming job will be the selection of the school’s first-ever football coach, but of more immediate concern is replacing Tony Ingle. That task will mostly fall on interim athletic director Scott Whitlock, as Williams officially takes over May 2, though Williams will still have the chance to offer input.
Belmont Bruins associate head coach Casey Alexander has confirmed he’s a candidate, as has Robert McCullum, former Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets assistant and USF head coach. Former Ingle assistant Greg Matta, Ohio State coach Thad Matta’s brother, is also reportedly in the running, along with former Bobby Cremins assistant and Appalachian State coach Kevin Cantwell.
The list of finalists was reportedly being whittled from 120 to 10, with a list of three finalists expected to come soon. And a hire any minute now, from the sound of it.
