Former Georgia Bulldogs coach and current Kennesaw St. Owls football consultant Vince Dooley told a crowd that KSU football's 2014 kickoff date appears to be on target. That might sound obvious to the casual observer, but it's actually a significant statement.
Due to the school's board of regents, 2014 is the earliest year in which Kennesaw State football could begin. But a 2013 date had been floated before the program was announced, with 2015 also emerging as a possibility as of late. Narrowing the focus back to 2014 provides a clearer recruiting timeline.
New Kennesaw State athletic director Vaughn Williams has been in touch with the Southern Conference and Ohio Valley Conference, since the Owls will need a new conference home that supports football. The SoCon seems like a better geographic and cultural fit, but conference talk is still a while away.
