Kennesaw State was playing their second game of the day as they advanced to the Atlantic Sun championship game to play against top-seeded Belmont. In the prior game on Saturday Kennesaw State defeated Florida Gulf Coast 14-3 for the right to play in the title game. However, the momentum ran out for Kennesaw State who loss to top-seeded Belmont 10-4.
The win for Belmont avenged their opening round loss to Kennesaw State and it was their second consecutive Atlantic Sun tournament championship.
Kennesaw State got on the board first and led 2-0 heading into the bottom of the third inning, but then Belmont tied the game when they scored a pair of runs when freshman Matt Beaty drove in Belmont's first run on a sacrifice fly to left. The next run was scored by junior Judah Akers who singled to center to tie the game.
Belmont then had a four-run fifth inning to take a 6-2 lead over Kennesaw State. Kennesaw State did make a comeback by scoring a pair of runs in the top of the seventh inning to make it a 7-4 game, but Belmont had one more strong inning and put up three more runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to seal the game.
