Willy Kouassi and Bernard Morena have played basketball together for a long time going back to when they came from Ivory Coast, high school and eventually both ended up playing at Auburn. Now, the two will be heading to play for the Kennesaw St. Owls.
This is a big step down in competition going from the SEC to the Atlantic Sun, and not just any Atlantic Sun team but one that went 0-18 in league play. Neither player got off to a good start at Auburn which is likely why the two decided to seek a transfer:
Morena, a 6-foot-8 forward, took a redshirt this season after suffering an injury. Kouassi, a 6-10 center, averaged 1.5 points and 2.6 rebounds in 25 games. Morena injured his hand early in the year. Kouassi spent most of the season as third-string center behind Rob Chubb and Adrian Forbes, but got more minutes late in the season.
Even though both players did not make a big impact with Auburn these two players with their size is not something an Atlantic Sun team happens land, let alone two. Once the two are eligible to play they should make an immediate impact for Kennesaw State.
