A 17-point first half deficit was too much for the Kennesaw St. Owls to overcome Saturday afternoon as they fell, 65-51, to the Chattanooga Mocs at the KSU Convocation Center.

Markeith Cummings led the Owls with 16 points, while Aaron Anderson was in double-digits with 10 points and also led the team in rebounds, with seven.

Chattanooga had four players score in double digits. Z. Mason led the Mocs with 14 points and eight rebounds.

The Owls led early in the first half at 7-6 after a three-pointer by Cummings. Kennesaw St.'s only lead of the game lasted for just less than two minutes, before Chattanooga went ahead 8-7 with 15:32 left in the first half, and stayed ahead the rest of the way.

The closest that the Owls got to the Mocs in the game's final minutes was when the hosts pulled within eight points, 59-51, after a pair of free throws by Jordan Montgomery. The Owls outscored the Mocs, 30-27 in the second half, but it was not enough to close the gap.

The Mocs owned the boards, grabbing 36 rebounds, nearly double the 18 that Kennesaw St. had. The Owls did force 23 turnovers from the Mocs, but stumbled shooting the ball, hitting 33 percent from the field and only 3 of 24 from behind the arc.

Chattanooga is now 2-4 on the season, while Kennesaw St. falls to 1-6 on the season and 0-2 at home.
