NASCAR: Danica Patrick To Race 2012 Advocare 500 At Atlanta Motor Speedway

Danicamania is coming to Georgia.

Danica Patrick and Stewart-Haas Racing co-owner Tony Stewart announced eight events on Patrick's ten-race Sprint Cup schedule for the 2012 season. The two remaining races will be announced as Patrick's progress in the Sprint Cup car and during her full-time Nationwide Series slate with Dale Earnhardt Jr's JR Motorsports.

One event is the September 2 Advocare 500 at the Atlanta Motor Speedway. She will also compete in the September 1 Great Clips 300 as part of her Nationwide Series commitments. The Saturday night 300-miler will mark her first Atlanta start.

Stewart said that the reasoning behind the tracks selected for Patrick's first foray into NASCAR's top division - which include the season-opening Daytona 500 and the May 12 Southern 500 at Darlington - were that they wanted to pick the tracks that would present a true challenge to Patrick.

Patrick's confirmed schedule can be found after the jump.

May 12 - Darlington Raceway

August 25 - Bristol Motor Speedway

September 2 - Atlanta Motor Speedway
