The engines have fired and 500 of the most intense, exhilerating laps of the NASCAR Sprint Cup series season are on tap. Who'll hit who, who'll hit who back, will there be a fight, and oh yeah, who's gonna win? All these questions will be answered in just a handful of hours.
Carl Edwards has the prime position - starting from his second Coors Light pole of the season - and the momentum as he comes off his third win in the last five races, but his old archnemesis Kyle Busch has won the last four NASCAR-sanctioned races at Bristol Motor Speedway.
Kyle's big brother Kurt is a five-time Bristol winner, and he comes into the race sharing the point lead with Tony Stewart, who won here in 2001. Jimmie Johnson is the defending race champion, and he'll roll off from the sixth position.
There very well could be a first-time winner. Three drivers who have never won a race - Regan Smith, Paul Menard, and David Ragan - start in the top-five today.
And Jeff Gordon is chasing history. A triumph today would tie him with Darrell Waltrip - and depending on who you ask, Bobby Allison - for fourth on the all-time victories list.
It's time to go racing in Bristol!
