Atlanta Motor Speedway Assisting Red Cross Southeast Disaster Relief Effort Through Friday Night Drags

In response to the terrible storms that rolled through the South Wednesday, the Atlanta Motor Speedway has announced an initiative to assist relief efforts following the disaster.

For every grandstand ticket sold for tomorrow's Friday Night Drags season-opener, the Speedway will donate $1 to the American Red Cross. Tickets for the event, which features a variety of drag racing competitions and MCR Safety Show-n-Shine, are $8 apiece. Children five and under get in free.

In the announcement released by AMS, track president Ed Clark recalled the July 2005 tornado that did significant damage to the facility.

"With our facility having been damaged by a tornado in recent years, we know first-hand what it's like when disasters like the one many in the Southeast have experienced strike," Clark said. "At the same time, we also know how it feels to see others helping in times of need. We're happy to be able to provide an opportunity to assist those in need."
