Denny Hamlin is looking like the Denny Hamlin of old thus far in the 5-Hour Energy 500 at Pocono. He blew around Kurt Busch on the second lap of the race and led up until a caution at lap 18. Juan Pablo Montoya grabbed the lead on that cycle of pit stops, but Hamlin swept past him immediately after the restart and currently leads Montoya, Kurt Busch, Brian Vickers, and Dale Earnhardt Jr. with 25 laps complete.
There have been two cautions thus far, both for debris, but that doesn't mean there has been any lack of excitement. Kevin Harvick and Kyle Busch's probation runs through next week's race at Michigan, but the pair have been joined together for much of the early part of the race. Harvick, being his usual mischevious self, has gotten within inches of Busch's Toyota on various occasions, but has avoided contact. Currently, Harvick runs among the top-10 while Busch rides 14th.
