There are 25 laps in the books in today's STP 400, and polesitter A.J. Allmendinger has led them all in his No. 22 Dodge. The Californian has been hotly pursued by Kevin Harvick's Chevrolet, with Martin Truex Jr. working his Toyota up into the mix as well after starting from the sixth position.
Completing the top five are Denny Hamlin and Clint Bowyer. Kasey Kahne runs sixth, ahead of defending race champion Brad Keselowski, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Jimmie Johnson, and Mark Martin.
Sam Hornish Jr., making his return to the Sprint Cup Series for his first of two starts this season, is shown a solid 11th after qualifying in the tenth position in the third Penske Racing Dodge. The three-time IZOD IndyCar Series champion claimed a win in that circuit at the Kansas Speedway.
After starting from the rear of the field, Joey Logano has worked his way up to the 27th position. Logano's engine broke on his first lap of practice. NASCAR rules dictate you can only use one engine per weekend, and though Logano turned the third-fastest speed in qualifying, he had to drop to last-place before the race went green.
