Trying to win its first road game of the season, Georgia Tech came up short Saturday night losing to the Boston College Eagles by a score of 86-75.

The Jackets played a good first half and went into the locker room tied at 39-39. Redshirt freshman Kammeon Holsey played awesome in the first 20 minutes, putting up 14 points to lead all Tech scorers.

Boston College came out after the break and took a quick lead, pushing it to double digits. The Jackets managed to make a run with about 5 minutes left, getting to within three points at 72-69, but couldn't make the key play down the stretch to tie the game. Tech missed six straight shots, Boston College hit their free throws and came up with the big rebounds, and that was the ballgame.

The players of the game for the Eagles were definitely Reggie Jackson and Corey Raji, brother of B.J. Raji of the Green Bay Packers. Check out the shooting night that Jackson had: 5-6 from inside the arc, 3-3 from outside the arc, and 6-6 from the free throw line for 25 points. Yeah, he made just about everything. Raji added 22 points and 9 rebounds coming off the bench.

Tech was led by Holsey in his breakout game. He finished with 18 points on 80% shooting and had 3 rebounds. Guard Iman Shumpert had 15 points, a bit of an off-night for him, only hitting on 6-19 from the floor. Glen Rice Jr. chipped in with 12 points and led the team with 7 rebounds, and Mfon Udofia added 14 points off of the bench.

The Jackets were outrebounded 33-27. They did have a positive turnover margin, with 13 for the visitors and forcing 14 for the Eagles. Tech was whistled 23 times compared to 13 for Boston College.

Tech loses its fourth road game of the season, and will be looking to pick up the first victory Tuesday when they head to Clemson. The Jackets fall to 7-7 and 0-1 in the ACC, while Boston College improves to 12-4 and 2-0 in conference play.

Coming off of a double overtime loss to Charlotte last Sunday, Georgia Tech returns to action Saturday afternoon in their ACC opener against the Boston College Eagles. The Jackets enter the game with a 7-6 record, while the Eagles are 11-4 and 1-0 in the conference.

Boston College has won 8 of their last 10 games, including a big win at Maryland in mid-December. The Eagles have a new coach this year, Steve Donahue, who has his team off to a hot start.

Georgia Tech has struggled in true road games the last few years, including this one. The Jackets have lost all three of their road games this year, and will be looking to reverse that trend against the Eagles.

Boston College traveled to Atlanta last year in the teams' only meeting of the season, falling by a score of 73-68. Guard Iman Shumpert led the Jackets with 24 points.

Tech leads the series record 8-4, with 10 of the match-ups finishing with a single digit margin.

The Jackets last won an ACC opener that was on the road in 1992 against Maryland.

The game tips off at 4 p.m. EST. It can be seen on FS South and heard on 790 the Zone. For more on Georgia Tech basketball, head to From The Rumble Seat.
