Atlanta grabbed its first win on its current three game western road trip knocking off the Seattle Storm 92-63 in Seattle. The victory completes a season sweep of the reigning WNBA champs in a rematch of last year's Finals. Granted that the Storm are missing a key component in reigning MVP Lauren Jackson but I doubt that makes the two victories any less sweet for the Dream who have endured an up and down season themselves.

Atlanta took a 50-42 lead at halftime and completely dominated the second half outscoring the Storm 42-21 including holding the defending champs to just eight points in the final quarter. Atlanta forced Seattle into 20 turnovers and made a ridiculous 40 of 68 shots in the game.

Five players scored in double figures for the Dream led by 17 points from Angel McCoughtry and Iziane Castro Marques. Lindsey Harding chipped in 12 points while Sancho Lyttle and Armintie Price had 10 each. Katie Smith led the Storm with 15 points while Swin Cash had 14 and Sue Bird 10.

The loss was just Seattle's second at home this season and a much needed victory for the Dream as they try and position themselves for the playoffs. Atlanta is now 11-12 on the season and currently in fourth place in the Eastern Conference 1.5 games ahead of the Chicago Sky. Atlanta is also 1.5 games behind the New York Liberty for third place. Atlanta will wrap up its current road trip on Tuesday in Los Angeles. The Dream have 11 games remaining in the season with six coming on the road.

The loss temporarily drops Seattle into fourth place in the Western Conference just a half game behind the Phoenix Mercury. The Storm expects to have Lauren Jackson back in a couple of weeks.

The Atlanta Dream continue their three game western road trip with a stop in Seattle to take on the Storm. Tip off is scheduled for 10 p.m. and can be seen on WNBA Live Access.

The Atlanta Dream continue their road trip on Saturday with a stop in Seattle to take on the Storm. Atlanta is looking for a season sweep of the Storm having defeated them in their previous meeting 70-53 in Atlanta. The task won't be easy as the Storm are one of the league's best teams at home. Seattle is just 4-9 on the road this season but has sterling 9-1 record at home in front of its fans.

There are playoff implications for both teams as they enter the home stretch of the WNBA season. Atlanta is currently 10-12 on the season and holds a one game lead over Chicago for the fourth and final playoff spot in the East. Seattle is currently 13-10 and in a tie with the Phoenix Mercury for the third seed in the West and just a half game behind San Antonio for second.

Seattle remains without the services of the reigning WNBA MVP Lauren Jackson who is out with a hip injury. Sue Bird has stepped up in Jackson's absence leading the Storm in scoring at 15 points per game to go along with 4.8 assists. Bird struggled in the previous meeting with Atlanta scoring just two points while committing six turnovers. Turning the ball over has been a problem for the Storm this season and they turned it over 29 times in the loss to the Dream earlier this month.

Atlanta is coming off of a 109-95 loss to Phoenix on Thursday to begin a three game Western trip that will conclude on Tuesday in Los Angeles. Angel McCoughtry scored 25 points in the loss to the Mercury and is currently second in the WNBA in scoring with a 20.1 per game average. The Dream will need another great effort from McCoughtry and will need to once again capitalize on turnovers if they hope to pull out a victory in Seattle.
