<p>The <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="https://www.peachtreehoops.com/">Atlanta Hawks</a> are preparing for another season with the trio of <span>Joe Johnson</span>, <span>Al Horford</span> and <span>Josh Smith</span>, and while in previous years this trio would create excitement for Hawks fans the oddsmakers have definitely soured on ATL's big three.</p>
<p>Is it a case of Atlanta falling out of favor, or have other teams in the conference caught up?</p>

<p>The <a href="https://www.peachtreehoops.com/" class="sbn-auto-link">Atlanta Hawks</a> will open their <a href="http://www.nba.com/hawks/schedule/">2011-12 regular season schedule</a> on Tuesday, December 27 in New Jersey against the <a href="http://www.sbnation.com/nba/teams/new-jersey-nets" class="sbn-auto-link">Nets</a>. Atlanta's home opener is set for Wednesday, December 28 against <span>John Wall</span> and the <a href="https://www.bulletsforever.com/" class="sbn-auto-link">Washington Wizards</a>. </p>
<p>Atlanta will play 13 games on national TV with the first being a January 5 contest against the <a href="https://www.hothothoops.com/" class="sbn-auto-link">Miami Heat</a>. The Hawks will be featured on ESPN and NBA TV six times each and have one appearance on TNT. Atlanta will play its annual Martin Luther King, Jr holiday game at 4 p.m. against the <a href="https://www.raptorshq.com/" class="sbn-auto-link">Toronto Raptors</a> on January 16. </p>
<p>There are two different back-to-back-to-back sets of games on the Hawks schedule with the first coming on January 5-7. Atlanta will host the Heat on January 5, travel to Charlotte on the 6th and return home for a game against Chicago on the 7th. The next set won't happen until March 23-25 when the Hawks will host New Jersey, travel to Washington and then return home to take on the <a href="https://www.slcdunk.com/" class="sbn-auto-link">Jazz</a>. </p>
<p>The longest road trip of the season comes in March when the team heads out on a six-game, nine day trip with stops in Indiana, Miami, Detroit, Sacramento, Denver and Los Angeles. The Hawks will close out the regular season playing five straight home games. </p>

<p>The Atlanta Hawks' 2011-12 regular season schedule will be released on Tuesday night. The NBA will play a 66 game schedule beginning on Christmas day with a five game showcase on national TV. </p> <p>With the NBA Lockout now in the rear view mirror, the league will begin salvaging what is left of the 2011-12 season by <a href="http://www.sbnation.com/nba/2011/12/2/2605314/nba-schedule-release-date-tv">announcing its schedule on Tuesday at 7pm</a>. The 2011-12 season will be slimmed down to a 66 game schedule and will begin play on Christmas day with a five game showcase. Each game will be televised nationally on either TNT, ABC or ESPN. </p>

<p>The 2011-12 regular season will be made up of 48 conference games and 18 out of conference games. Teams will also face at least one back-to-back-to-back situation and no more than three. Back-to-back games in the playoffs will be possible in the second round only. </p>
<p>Each NBA team will play two preseason games, a home-and-home series against a geographically close opponent. The <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="https://www.peachtreehoops.com/">Atlanta Hawks</a> will tip off their preseason schedule on Monday, December 19 in Charlotte against the <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/nba/teams/charlotte-bobcats">Bobcats</a>. They will play their final tune up game on December 22 at home also against Charlotte. </p>
