Even with all of the interesting stories at the MLB All-Star Game, Chipper Jones hitting in his final All-Star appearance was certainly one of the more compelling ones. And it wasn't just enough for Chipper to be there, but he gave the pregame pep talk to his younger teammates and ended the game with a hit, as the National League dominated the American League with an 8-0 victory.

He spoke with SB Nation's own Amy K. Nelson following the game and told her it wasn't about how hard he hit the ball, rather where he hit it - something every Major League hitter knows, but the veterans know best.

Take a look at Nelson's clip right here:

Should the Braves make the World Series, they'll be opening at Turner Field.

The National League beat up the American League MVP and cruised to an 8-0 win in the 2012 MLB All-Star Game on Tuesday in Kansas City. It is the third straight year the NL has won, and as a result, the winner of the NLCS will host the 2012 World Series. It was the largest margin of victory for the NL in All-Star Game history.

Craig Kimbrel entered the 2012 MLB All-Star Game in the bottom half of the eighth inning with the National League leading the American League 8-0. Kimbrel made quick work of the two batters he faced striking out Cleveland shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera and Texas second baseman Ian Kinsler.

Kimbrel faced just two batters in the eighth and Tony LaRussa opted to insert Reds reliever Aroldis Chapman to face Mike Trout. Chapman walked Trout before coming back to strike out Mark Trumbo.

Kimbrel is the last of the four Braves representatives to get into the game. Dan Uggla started the game at second base and went 1 for 2 with an RBI. Chipper Jones singled in his final All-Star game at-bat and Michael Bourn struck out in his only plate appearance thus far.

Playing in what will be the final All-Star Game of his career, Chipper Jones came up to the plate in the sixth inning as the National League's new DH. Chipper received a roaring standing ovation from the sellout crowd in Kansas City, and the familiar tune of 'Thunderstruck' was played as he strolled to the plate. For a Braves fan, it doesn't get much better than that.

Jones took the first pitch he saw from rookie Chris Sale and grounded it towards second baseman Ian Kinsler. Despite very little speed on the ball, it managed to just sneak under Kinsler's glove and into right field. The crowd cheered as Chipper reached first.

The National League has completely dominated the 2012 All-Star Game thus far. They currently leads 8-0 in the seventh inning.

After coming up with an infield RBI single in the first inning, Dan Uggla flew out to deep center field in his second at-bat. Uggla hit the ball well against former Braves prospect Matt Harrison, but it was just to the wrong and deepest part of the ballpark. Uggla then hit a lazy flyout to left field in his third at-bat of the game in the fifth.

No other members of the Braves have made an appearance at the 2012 All-Star Game. As for the other action, the National League currently leads by a score of 8-0. The two big blows of the game came on a bases-clearing triple from Pablo Sandoval in the first inning, and then a two-run homer in the fourth from another former Brave, Melky Cabrera.

The NL has surrendered just two hits thus far, and the American League is yet to mount any kind of rally. It appears that the Braves will have home field advantage in the World Series should they make it. Hooray!

The National League got off a great start at the 2012 MLB All-Star Game, scoring five runs in the first inning off Justin Verlander. The NL has won the last two Mid-Summer Classics and with home field for the World Series on the line, it's safe to say the guys came to play.

Ryan Braun doubled in Melky Cabrera for the first run of the game. After loading the bases with two outs, Verlander surrendered a bases-clearing triple to Pablo Sandoval. Dan Uggla then drove home Sandoval with an infield single to give the NL a 5-0 lead. Derek Jeter was able to make a play on Uggla's ball, but a poor throw skipped past Prince Fielder at first base.

Matt Cain is the starter for the NL and has just taken the mound in Kansas City. The game is currently airing live on FOX.

The 2012 MLB All-Star Game will take place on Tuesday night at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City. This will be the final All-Star Game in a storied 19-year career for Atlanta Braves third baseman Chipper Jones. Not surprisingly, many All-Stars have glowing comments about playing on the same team as Jones for his last go-round at the Midsummer Classic.

Mark Bowman of MLB.com collects some quotes from Jones' National League teammates, including Washington Nationals superstar Bryce Harper.

"Seeing Chipper and his last All-Star Game is going to be a thing for the ages," Nationals 19-year-old outfielder Bryce Harper said. "I can tell my kids I saw Chipper Jones' last All-Star Game. It's kind of sad, but he has had a great career and been the face of that Braves' franchise for so long. He's an All-Star and a Hall of Famer."

Former Rookie of the Year, Georgia native and starting catcher Buster Posey also chimed in.

"I've watched him my whole life," Giants catcher Buster Posey said. "He was probably in the big leagues when I was six or seven years old. I grew up watching him all the way through high school. It's cool. In my mind, he's a first-ballot Hall of Famer. It's always nice being around that kind of player."

Braves teammate Michael Bourn had this to say:

"He's going to be a first-ballot Hall of Famer," Bourn said. "He was born to play baseball. He's played for 19 years and he can still play at 40 years old. That's what amazes me most, because they tell me at 40 things just don't work the same."

Perhaps Jones will give the Kansas City crowd and Braves fans something to cheer about on Tuesday night.
