Woods, meanwhile, finished tied for 11th place, shooting a 2-under 286 for the tournament. Woods' best round came on Thursday, when he placed himself squarely in the hunt, shooting a 3-under 69, but could not gain momentum throughout the weekend.

Bubba Watson, who went to the University of Georgia, finished the PGA Championship tied for 11th place at 2-under. Matt Kuchar, who went to Georgia Tech, missed the cut after faltering in the second round. Both golfers earned spots on the United States Ryder Cup team after their performances over the weekend.

Watson, who will be making his second appearance on the Ryder Cup team, spoke to reporters about his feelings of making the team.

It means a lot. Any time you can put the stars and stripes on your sleeve and play some golf, this is the closest I'll get to the military, so for me it's all about representing our country and playing some golf and hopefully win it. But all in all, just like the athletes in the Olympics, all you're trying to do is represent your country well and show people some exciting golf.

Kuchar will also be making his second straight Ryder Cup appearance along with several other notable golfers.

Rory McIlroy dominated the field at The Ocean Club at Kiawah Island to win his second major and his first PGA Championship. McIlroy was sterling on Sunday wrapping up his third round in the early morning hours and then firing a 6-under, 66 during the final round to pull away from the competition.

McIlroy's final round was bogey free and he never gave any of the golfers chasing him any confidence that he would falter. His final margin of victory broke Jack Nicklaus record for the PGA Championship. McIlroy was sizzling over the weekend going 11-under over the final two rounds. The eight stroke margin of victory equaled McIlroy's other major win at the U.S. Open in 2011.

David Lynn finished second at 5-under and was followed by a group of golfers tied for third at 4-under.

Rory McIlroy is flexing his muscles coming down the stretch of the PGA Championship and now leads the rest of the field by six strokes. McIlroy is 4-under during his final round and 11-under for the tournament. He has four birdies and no bogeys during Sunday's final round.

Carl Pettersson and Ian Poulter are tied for second place at 5-under. Poulter looked like he was going to make a charge at McIlroy early but three straight bogeys on the back nine took him out of contention.

Defending champion Keegan Bradley is among three golfers who are tied for fourth at 4-under. Tiger Woods is a little further back at 3-under and tied for seventh place.

Bubba Watson fired a 4-under, 68 on Sunday to move up the leaderboard and finish the 2012 PGA Championship at 2-under. That was a nice finish to Watson's weekend after he struggled early in the tournament. Watson shot 73 and 75 over the first two rounds of the tournament but came back with a 70 and 68 over the weekend.

Watson had four birdies and a bogey on the front nine of his final round. His birdie at 18 gave him five for the day and maybe some momentum to carry into his next event.

Rory McIlroy continues to pull away from the field at 11-under through 12. Ian Poulter and Carl Pettersson are tied for second place at 5-under six shots back.

Rory McIlroy has picked right back up where he left off from this morning and leads the 2012 PGA Championship by three strokes over Ian Poulter as the tournament shifts into its final holes.

McIlroy is 3-under in the final round and is 10-under for the tournament. Ian Poulter enjoyed an early birdie streak and is 6-under during the final round. Poulter is three shots back of McIlroy at 7-under for the tournament. Carl Pettersson is alone in third place at 6-under par and had a crippling two-stroke penalty enforced during his final round.

Tiger Woods is lurking back at 4-under for the tournament but a rough start to Saturday's third round may prove to completely take him out of contention. Woods is 2-under for his final round and has just begun the back nine.

Bubba Watson hasn't made a lot of noise this week at the 2012 PGA Championship but he has played better this weekend. Watson is 1-under through three holes of his final round and is looking to climb up the leaderboard Sunday afternoon.

Watson fired a 73 on Thursday and followed that up with a 75 on Friday. His third round of 70 put him at 2-over for Sunday's final round. His birdie on the Par 5, 2nd on Sunday lowered him to 1-over and tied for 24th. Conditions have greatly improved on Sunday so a good score for Watson isn't out of the realm of possibility.

Rory McIlroy has yet to begin his final round but leads the tournament at 7-under. Carl Pettersson is second at 4-under and followed by a group of three golfers that are four shots back at 3-under.
