The Atlanta Braves defeated the Colorado Rockies, 1-0, to earn their third win of a four-game series on Thursday afternoon. Tim Hudson pitched well for the Braves, going seven shutout innings.

The Rockies handed the Braves their only run when Jhoulys Chacin mishandled a routine return throwback from the catcher. Juan Francisco alertly scored on the play. Chacin took the loss after allowing just the one unearned run.

Francisco was on third after being moved over on a ground rule double by Dan Uggla. The double was the only extra-base hit for the Braves in the game.

The Braves move to 4-3 on this homestand with the series victory over the Rockies. They travel to New York next to start a six-game road trip.

The Atlanta Braves went 0-for-11 with runners in scoring position and scored their lone run on a throwing error against the Rockies on Wednesday night. Given their recent struggles, no one will be complaining in the clubhouse.

Mike Minor was the story on this night, flirting with a no-hitter as the seventh inning arrived. Minor had surrendered just two walks and saw a batter reach on error, but he had been perfect other than that. It was a line drive single from Jordan Pacheco with no outs in the seventh that finally broke the no hitter, which prompted a rousing ovation from the 16,714 at Turner Field.

Minor finished his night tossing seven shutout innings, allowing just the one hit, four walks and striking out seven.

With runners on first and second and no outs in the fourth, Brian McCann grounded out sharply to second baseman DJ LeMahieu. He flipped to shortstop Josh Rutledge, who fired errantly to first base. The ball rolled into the dugout, advancing Chipper Jones across the plate for the first run of the game.

Craig Kimbrel entered in the eighth inning and struck out the lone batter he faced with two on base. He then worked around a two-out walk as he struck out three more in the ninth to secure the 1-0 victory.

The Braves and Rockies will meet again at 12:10 p.m. on Thursday afternoon.

The Atlanta Braves are looking to rebound after a 6-0 loss to the Colorado Rockies they suffered on Tuesday night. The Braves are trying to create some breathing room in the N.L. wild card spot, and a win against the lowly Rockies is a way to achieve that.

Mike Minor is getting the start for the Braves, this year he has struggled with a 7-10 record and an ERA of 4.79. This will be Minor's second start against the Rockies, the last being all the way back on May 5. In that game Minor played poorly by giving up eight runs in only five innings of work.

The Braves also have mixed up their lineup from Tuesday with Jose Constanza playing left field and batting eighth, Dan Uggla is back in the lineup at second base after getting a night off and Brian McCann will be behind the plate and will be hitting sixth in the lineup.

The Atlanta Braves will try to recover Wednesday from an ugly 6-0 Tuesday loss to the Colorado Rockies in the third game of a four-game series at Atlanta's Turner Field.

The Braves will send left-hander Mike Minor to the mound Wednesday night. Minor pitched five innings of four-run ball, but it was the first time since June 30 the 24-year-old gave up four earned runs in a start. In Minor's only other start of the season against the Rockies on May 5, he gave up eight runs (all earned) and 10 hits in five innings. A classic Coors Field shootout, the Braves still won 13-9.

Pitching for Colorado is right-handed Alex White. White, who has given up three or fewer earned runs in seven straight starts, is in his first full season as a major leaguer. He was traded from the Cleveland Indians as part of the Ubaldo Jimenez trade last July, so he's still seeing National League teams for the first time. Wednesday will be his first time facing the Braves.

MLB.com's Tyler Emerick wrote on White's first time throwing against the Braves, who was a diehard Braves fan growing up in North Carolina during Atlanta's run in the 1990s.

From Emerick:

Although White, 24, realizes it'll be his job to sit down the Braves' lineup when he takes the mound, he can't help but be excited about pitching against the likes of veteran third baseman Chipper Jones.

"He's a good hitter, I'm going to have to work hard to get him out," White said. "I've watched him play for a long time, and it'll be fun. It's also one of those things where I have to get the guy out. They're a good team, and that's pretty obvious. I'm going to have to throw well to keep our team in it tomorrow."

First pitch between the Braves and Colorado is at 7:05 p.m. ET on SportSouth in Atlanta.

The Atlanta Braves did not play their best baseball on Tuesday night, losing by a score of 6-0. Tommy Hanson pitched his best start since coming off the disabled list four weeks ago, but that was not enough as the offense fell short against Drew Pomeranz and a struggling Rockies bullpen.

Carlos Gonzalez and Jordan Pacheco hit a solo home run in the fourth and fifth inning, respectively, which gave Colorado the early 2-0 lead. Hanson departed shortly after, giving way to Peter Moylan, Luis Avilan, Chad Durbin and Miguel Batista. These four relievers combined to surrender four runs (one earned) on five hits and three walks. The Rockies scored two runs in the seventh and eighth inning, all but ending what was a disappointing night at Turner Field.

The Braves roped out nine hits, although only one was an extra-base hit -- a double from David Ross. Michael Bourn and Martin Prado were thrown out trying to steal, with Prado being tagged out just inches away from home plate.

Sloppy does not begin to describe the game this evening, and we can only hope it does not become a trend in the coming weeks.

Fresh off a 6-1 victory over the Rockies, the Atlanta Braves have been a busy club in the news cycle on Tuesday afternoon. Let's take a look at some of the interesting developments out of Braves Country.

Brian McCann's shoulder is improving:

B-Mac is expected to return to the lineup on Wednesday as the Braves continue their series with Colorado. The 28-year-old catcher has been dealing with shoulder issues the last few months and his numbers have plummeted as a result. McCann received a cortisone injection into his right shoulder for the second time on Saturday and looks to be getting healthy once again.

More after the jump...

Jair Jurrjens will not be called up in September:

In a bit of news that really isn't surprising -- although it is a bit sad -- Jurrjens will not be returning to Atlanta this month. His season is likely done, as is his tenure with the franchise. JJ did not pitch well in his "rehab" starts in Triple-A and continues to see a lack of velocity on his fastball. Quite the turnaround for a guy who pitched in the All-Star Game 14 months ago.

Julio Teheran, Randall Delgado not in rotation plans:

As the Braves collapsed last September, a lot of it had to do with injuries to the starting rotation. At the time it meant 20-year-old Julio Teheran and 21-year-old Randall Delgado had to pitch crucial innings down the stretch. Unless a plague of injuries strikes the club again, neither Teheran or Delgado will be in the rotation. Instead, the club will use the two righties as long-relievers in the bullpen.

This may be the case for now, but I would not be surprised to see either pitcher make a start if Tommy Hanson's struggles continue. Ben Sheets would likely be the first candidate, but if his shoulder is bothering him then Delgado would likely be the man for a spot-start situation.
